Santa's Workshop

You take pride in your yard during the Summer, but don’t let it stop there. Your yard can become the epitome of holiday cheer. So, even if you’re feeling a little more like Scrooge, at least your yard won’t give it away.

Here are some fun DIY holiday landscapes we love!

Turn your shed into Santa’s Workshop:

It doesn’t matter that your shed is in disarray on the inside. That’s what it’s for! To keep your tools, equipment and random clutter out of the house. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t give the appearance that it’s really a secret Christmas workstation.

Here are our full instructions for taking your normal Cook shed and transforming it into Santa’s Workshop, complete with a mailbox for your kids or grandkids to drop off letters to Santa.

Create a sign from PVC Pipe and a piece of thin painted wood. Then, paint stepping stones and add a festive wreath for the front door. In one afternoon you’ll have a completely transformed backyard shed! Watch how to make it below:

Build Your Own Nativity:

Nativity figurines can be quite expensive, but you can still have a beautiful nativity without the high price tag. One of our guest bloggers walks you through each step to add this piece to your yard this holiday season.

The best part is you can use these same instructions for creating any kind of outdoor decoration. If you don’t want to do a nativity scene, you can make a Santa, snowman or even holiday themed words like “JOY” or “NOEL”.

This project only cost about $100, even less if you can get a good deal or catch a coupon for your local hardware store.

Create oversized ornaments for your front porch:

What could be easier than taking a cheap, oversized bouncy ball and adding a spray-painted plastic Tupperware on top? Easily create a festive entrance everyone can see from the road with this DIY idea!

Add lighted PVC candy canes to your doorway:

This is the perfect addition to your front door or to line your driveway. Take PVC pipe, paint stripes and then drill holes to insert lights so they show up at night. Simple decoration your holiday guests will love! Find the directions for how to make them here.

You see, you don’t have to work too hard to make your yard look amazing this Christmas! With a few simple, festive touches, you’ll love driving up at the end of a long day to see your home all lit up.

Now, where will you store these decorations for next year? You don’t want to be making new decorations every year! So, get a Cook portable building for all the extras that need to be stored. You’ll be surprised at the number of other items you’ll suddenly find yourself wanting to store in the shed as the year begins.
