At Cook Portable Warehouses, we work hard to be more than just a company that sells high quality portable buildings. With locations across the county in many diverse cities and states, it’s important for us to be a part of those communities.

And a big component of building those community relationships is giving back through many different charities. To learn more about some of the programs and organizations we are involved with, visit the Cook Cares page. Or read more about our involvement in this blog post!

A recent example of our Cook dealers’ commitment to our communities was a School Supply Drive and Fundraiser held in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

The local Cook dealer Mike Smith came up with the idea for a fundraiser to benefit school children in need after a discussion with his mother, a retired Muskogee High School teacher. She along with a friend and fellow retired Muskogee High School faculty member held a yearly drive until their retirement.

The fundraising effort ended when the two retired, so Mike thought it would be a great opportunity to take it over and gather those much needed supplies.

“Knowing how important supplies are to the school and students, I thought someone needed to pick up the reigns, and it might as well be me,” he said.

The fundraiser kicked off with a party at Cook Portable Warehouse of Muskogee (2403 North 32nd Street) on August 1st. The party, attended by about 45 community members, included a Peakaboo Petting Zoo, bouncy house and goodies like snow cones and cotton candy.

Supplies were gathered during the party and at the Cook lot until August 15th. In all, about 250 pounds of school supplies were gathering during the fundraiser! These items included notebooks, pens, pencils, markers, crayons, glue, glue sticks, folders, colored pencils, pencil boxes, erasers, backpacks, monetary donations and more.

Cook dealer Mike Smith worked directly with counselors and social workers in the Muskogee Public School System to distribute the supplies before the beginning of the school year.

Smith plans to make this School Supply Drive and Fundraiser an annual event and hopes to make it bigger and better next year!
